Humpty - Overview
The Humpty Squads is a quality gross motor and movement program that provides the fundamentals of all movement skills including locomotor (running, sliding, hopping, jumping), manipulative skills (throwing, catching, kicking, rolling) as well as movements that incorporate balance, midline and spatial awareness. The program is specifically for children 2½ – 6 years.
AIMS
- To increase each child’s self esteem through educational movement and sporting activities.
- To assist in laying the foundations of skills, concepts and attitudes so that children can confidently and competently move onto more specific skill levels.
- To strongly adhere to the development of the whole child so activities are programmed to stimulate and challenge all developmental areas.
- To challenge the children to participate in a wide variety of balance, ball, racquet, midline, spatial awareness, and agility skills just to name a few!!!
- Programming is based on placing children in non-competitive situations where they are successful, while challenging them to improve in their abilities.
PHILOSOPHY
For gross motor skills to develop to a competent level, children must have opportunity, experience, repetition and instruction.
